Under One Roof

Under One Roof

Trinity Lutheran Church, Temecula, CA

Trinity Lutheran Church, Temecula, CA has operated a preschool for over 20 years. In the beginning the four classrooms were a good start. But, after just a few years, the preschool had outgrown its space and additional classrooms were needed. These new classrooms were housed in a modular building and the office space for the preschool and church were in cramped quarters. In addition, the modulars are only granted licenses for 5 years at a time and the future of being able to operate out of them was becoming less clear.

Realizing the desperate need for more space, the congregation approved the building of six preschool classrooms, new administration offices and meeting space. When complete the preschool will have a total of 10 state-of-the-art classrooms and the offices for both the church and preschool will be housed with them, all under one roof!

The preschool has always been the number one mission of Trinity and the church and preschool have always been recognized as one entity. And now being under one roof will reinforce this mission and make it easier to connect the preschool families to the church.

Paul Hassler, congregational President of Trinity shares,

“The construction of administration offices and new preschool classrooms has been in the making for over five years and God has continued to guide us through this process including the delaying of the project for one year during the pandemic.”

Lutheran Church Extension Fund has been a ministry partner of Trinity since its beginning and was ready to come alongside Trinity on this project.

“Of course, one of our major concerns was what the financing was going to look like and would we be in the same position financially to move forward. Having served on the LCEF Loan Committee and as the LCEF Chair to the District Board of Directors, I felt very comfortable requesting the loan from LCEF. They responded positively and quickly to our request and assured us the funds would be available to move forward,” said Paul Hassler.

Tyler Fewins, LCEF District Vice President for the Pacific Southwest District expressed how excited LCEF is to continue this ministry partnership with Trinity,

“Our continued partnership with Trinity, throughout its history is a prime example of LCEF’s mission and ministry to the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. We look forward to seeing how God uses Trinity and their preschool to reach out to the community.”

The members of Trinity have come together to support this project, helping to serve on the Architectural Committee working with the Architect and the Construction Committee working with the contractor. Paul Hassler says

“The Pastoral Leadership of Pastor Jim Kirkman leading us through the trying times of Covid and fully supporting this expansion from the beginning has been key to the success of this project.”

Construction is currently underway, with projected completion by the Fall of 2022. Praise God for his continued blessings!
